Essential Responsibilities - Develop welding procedures and applies welding design to problems involving locomotive bogie and platform fabrications utilizing knowledge of production specifications, material properties
- Conduct investigations to develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures
- Establish welding procedures for production and welding personnel, to ensure compliance with specifications, processes, and heating requirements
- Evaluate new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes
- Investigate reliability issues involving failure of welded structures focused on weld defect and other welding phenomena to correlate and substantiate hypotheses
- Provide technical direction on assigned design projects and work with other team members in application of welding design principles on cross-functional applications
- Work closely with dynamic analysis and FEA workgroups to define analysis problem including review and interpretation of analysis results to drive specific analysis/design optimization actions
- Provide cross-functional design support to system design engineers and other locomotive subsystems
- Develop test plans and procedures for bogie validation testing and participate in execution of testing
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks onsistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements - Bachelor in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in engineering position
- Must have exceptional interpersonal Skills to interface effectively with cross functional teams. Should be able to resolve inter sub-system issues through specific actions.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, casting, forging and mechanical assembly procedures and strong working knowledge on various design codes
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Experience in design of large cast or welded structures
