Utility Operator
Position Summary / Key Job Responsibilities: Assist in the operation & maintenance of high productivity melting furnaces.
-Load/Unload materials and product
-Inspect Condition of product to ensure quality
-Interpret and control furnace conditions
-Have a strong learning aptitude
-Operate equipment (tow motors, overhead cranes & hoists)
-Maintain records and logs
-Clean out furnaces during maintenance cycles
-Operate cutting torch, grinders, saws and drill presses
-Must be flexible with work schedule, available for any shift and also for overtime and weekends.
Qualifications / Requirements: - Associates degree from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience; or equivalent combination of education & experience
-Possess one or more skills at the apprentice level: welding, machining, mechanical/millwright, MIG & TIG weld, Pneumatic and Hydraulic knowledge, machining skills or basic electrical circuit knowledge.
- Read & interpret documents
- Write routine reports & correspondence
-Calculate figures & amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, & volume.
-Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit & climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear & must frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision**
- Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and must be able to work in small or confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud**
