Position Description:
 
The USF-I CJ6 - Operations Division is seeking an experienced Transmission Technician to support the United States Forces - Iraq (USF-I) Headquarters and its Major Subordinate Commands.
The Transmissions Technician's primary responsibilities include the line-of-site microwave transmission systems and satellite transmission systems carrying out the day to day operation and maintenance of the United States Force-Iraq (USF-I), Communication Information Systems (CIS) operations. Prepare daily reports, cell phone requests, and service requests as needed
·        Experience installing and operating Promina Networks in accordance with applicable DISA standards.
·        Experienced in Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) installations.
·        Manage the end-to-end telecommunications and circuit switching systems, as well as the long-haul transmission path.
·        Perform site surveys for new transmission communications services
·        Install, configure, and troubleshoot transmission circuits on the PROMINA-400/800 to include fiber optic modems, and encryption devices.
·        Possess a working knowledge of troubleshooting RF paths utilizing spectrum analyzers, Firebirds, and oscilloscopes.
·        Perform cryptographic changes on equipment to include KIV-7HSB, KIV-19, KIV-19A, KG-175, KG-175B, and KG-75.
·        Draft Request for Services (RFS's) and Telecommunication Service Orders (TSO's) documentation in accordance with DISA standards, and maintain circuit history folders.
·        Schedule Authorize Service Interruptions (ASI's) with Communications Information Support (CIS) and external units as well as any other transmission related duties as assigned by the TCF supervisor or operations manager.
·        Perform cable fabrication to include RS530 and RS449, and be familiar with the standard color code for Telecom cables.
·        Maintain a Master Station Log (FACIT) to provide information on all events and issues as they arise, and possess a working knowledge of Solar Winds and Integrated Network Management System (INMS) monitoring tools.
·        Performs circuit, system, and network patching and cross connecting to establish, sustain, and restore service
·        Localizes failures, performs operational adjustments, and reconfigures circuit, system, and network equipment.
·        Operates cryptographic equipment (i.e., test, reset, and rekey).Basic Qualifications:
·        Active Secret clearance
·        At least 5 years experience with transmission communication equipment.
·        Must be able to install and troubleshoot physical links, trunks, and transmission circuits to include Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPR), Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR), Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN), Digital Switch Network (DSN), Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS), Releasable Internet Protocol Router Network (RIPR), and White House Communications Agency (WHCA) circuits.

General Labor Category Requirements, Experience, and Education
 
Functional Responsibility:
 
Must have experience in design, development, testing and evaluation of computer based systems. Must possess specific experience in the analysis and design of business applications on complex, large-scale systems, including experience in data base management concepts. Knowledge of state-of-the-art storage and retrieval methods is required as well as the ability to formulate specifications for computer programmers to use in coding, testing, and debugging of computer programs. Assists other analysts and develops plans for ADP systems from project inception to conclusion. Defines the problem, and develops system requirements and program specifications, from which programmers prepare systems documentation programs and tests.
