Training and Operations Research Analyst to join our team located in Alexandria, VA.
Put your experience into a future with Northrop Grumman supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Team supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense performing studies, analysis and assessments of Defense programs, processes, doctrines, policies and strategies as well as providing guidance, advice, and recommendations to support implementation and revision of the Defense Strategy. The incumbent provides consulting expertise to defense clients for development of training capabilities and evaluation of military training effectiveness.
The TORA will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:
• Prepare and present senior executive level briefings and reports
• Recognize and define future challenges for both Services and Combatant Commands in DoD
• Assess Joint training activities to determine the impact of the Training Transformation program
• Develop metrics and gather data from existing sources to measure the effectiveness of Joint training activities
• Perform studies, analysis, and assessments of Joint training - related programs, processes, doctrines, policies and strategies
• Performed focused studies, using case study or other appropriate methodologies, to analyze topics of interest to leadership in the joint training community
• Research and execute an agenda of exploration and innovation for the Training Community that includes the creation of new ideas and resources that produce incremental or even sweeping change
• Conceptualize, propose, design, conduct, and report results of assessments and studies of training activities using Mixed-Method research techniques that blend qualitative and quantitative tools and data
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• Excellent and well founded, written and oral communication skills are absolutely essential
• Must be comfortable and effective working in a collaborative environment at the customer's site
• B.S./ M.A. in a technical field (such as operations research) or in the social science research methods field required
• Must have a work history displaying proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include a working knowledge of Access
• Must have at least two (2) years professional experience with research and analysis
Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Secret level security clearance to be selected. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
• Able to use System Dynamics software such as VenSim or Stella
• Ability to use specialized analytical software such as R, SAS, Matlab, or JMP
• Demonstrated capability for development of innovative solutions to complex problems
• Familiarity with mixed method research techniques that blend qualitative and quantitative tools and data
• Thorough understanding of systems thinking and proficiency with the tools and techniques that enhance its use
• Familiar with use of scripting languages and data manipulation and be comfortable learning new analytical software packages
• A strong foundation in social science research methods such as survey design and interpretation and critical incident content analysis
• Demonstrated ability for creativity, critical thinking, and use of a myriad of data and information sources to assess military training programs and needs
