Under direction of supervision or higher grade employees, work from detailed instructions to plan, set up, and fabricate parts, fixtures, rigs and test equipment utilizing various welding operations or perform routine mechanical duties including modification, repair, maintenance, adjustment, cleaning and installation of test area equipment. This may include:
Plan and implement routine operations necessary to fabricate or repair test area equipment.
Operate shop equipment to perform routine duties to assist in construction, modification, repair and cleaning of equipment.
Follow established procedures and instructions to maintain records and reports required to meet departmental and customer requirements.
Perform a wide variety of routine welding operations where method of work is specified to fabricate or repair fixtures, rigs, and various test equipment.
Set-up and perform cutting operations using oxygen acetylene and plasma rigs.
Perform preventative maintenance on heavy machinery, lifting devices, high pressure systems, and other test area equipment.
Following established procedures, perform routine operations to overhaul and repair test area equipment (pumps, valves, gearboxes, etc.) fabricating parts and details as directed.
Perform routine cleaning operations following P&W specifications and Test Support instructions.
Comply with environmental/safety regulations and program requirements to ensure safe working conditions and to preserve the environment.

Requires the ability to interpret complicated prints, sketches, drawings, schematic diagrams and service manuals, Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding, mechanical maintenance and construction methods, techniques and procedures. Ability to lift and handle light to medium weight parts and handle heavy parts or materials with mechanical or manual assistance. Periodically work in a strained or awkward position. Occasionally required to exert considerable effort for short periods in the use and handling of tools and equipment. Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications to operate powered industrial vehicles.
