Description: The Supervisor, Product Testing establishes the long term vision and strategy for Product Testing and represents the department in matters with upper management, outside suppliers, and customers. The Supervisor, Product Testing actively advances the skill and competitiveness of the group, especially in areas of effectiveness and efficiency.
TECHNICAL:
The Supervisor, Product Testing is responsible for identifying and implementing new technology in the test lab, assisting with product development testing, identifying future testing requirements, and identifying equipment / personnel constraints. The Supervisor, Product Testing is responsible for providing and organizing training for all employees to perform to their job specifications and organizational requirements.
COMMERCIAL:
The Supervisor, Product Testing is responsible for understanding the market sufficiently to focus testing development activities to exceed market expectations, while supporting the business goals of Federal-Mogul. It is this person's responsibility to showcase the capabilities of the test lab by providing tours and presentations to customers. The Supervisor, Product Testing is also responsible for providing a safe work environment Requirements: ' BS in Engineering is required, preferably mechanical or electrical ' 5 years combined experience in one or more of the following: test engineer, application engineer, or engineering supervisory mandatory in automotive, preferably in wiper systems. ' Trained in Red X methodologies. ' Trained in DOE. ' Develops long term planning for Product Testing based on our application engineering team's goals and strategies. ' Assists the team leaders in resource planning to maximize total Product Testing resource utilization. ' Reviews the staffing, skills, and organization of the product testing team and develops recommendations for improvements. ' Establishes team's budget, conducts or approves performance reviews, recommends merit increases, and recommends and recruits new team members as needed. ' Develops contacts with customers, suppliers, and other test labs to improve our testing capabilities. ' Conducts customer tours to highlight the accomplishments, skills, and testing capabilities of Federal-Mogul's test lab. ' Establishes and provides a training program for all team members to learn new skills, expand their capabilities, and increase their value to the team and themselves. ' Encourages the continuous development and implementation of new test procedures and technology to improve product performance and testing evaluations. ' Assists in establishing team goals and metrics for Innovation, Timeliness, Safety, and Quality. ' Reviews new and existing test programs, and helps to resolve testing resource conflicts consistent with customer contracts and priorities. ' Responsible for development of all employees in the blade prototype and evaluation department. This includes: ' organizing training workshops ' identifying test team needs to provide quality, technical results in the most efficient way possible ' implementation of improvements and technical advances ' Must have knowledge of wiper system design, mechanics, application parameters, and design analysis. ' Must have knowledge of manufacturing techniques, manufacturing processes, and tooling designs. ' Must have a knowledge of the materials used in the Wiper Systems Group. ' Must have a thorough understanding of testing. This includes: ' work flow procedures ' operation of equipment and instruments ' performing tests ' Responsible for all administrative duties associated with the test team. ' Provides input and direction to the corporation regarding testing issues. ' Capable of providing direction and leadership to a large group of people. ' Responsible for test standards used by the Wiper Systems Group. ' Responsible for maintaining all laboratory procedures, equipment requirements, and working conditions in the test department. ' Participates in relevant professional societies related to the industry. ' Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
