Telecommunications Technician Country Kuwait Work Location Kuwait Job Description POSITION SUMMARY:
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot digital/analog microwave radios, digital/analog multiplex, analog video microwave radios and other miscellaneous telecommunications equipment.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
1.Operate and maintain the network management terminal and key management for IMD facilities 2.Operate and maintain dispatch console 3.Support tower with repeater 4.Provide troubleshooting of installed systems, and will coordinate with the appropriate vendor or agency to resolve problems. 5.Install, reinstall, and de-install prefabricated mounts and mobile radios in vehicles. 6.Emplace, install, and remove base stations as required 7.Support AFRTS antenna 8.Support conventional and 1 trunked Qantar repeaters for ASTRO 25 LMR. 9.Operate, maintain and install communications systems, including outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) in support of radio and tower network, multiple towers with repeaters serving hand held radio users, and Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS) satellite receivers and decoders 10.Receive user initiated work orders through CPC for normal adds/changes/moves (normally ISP), and will elevate work orders into projects as required to ensure infrastructure meets industry standards 11.Administer, maintain and operate Cellular Telephone Service 12.Maintain an active/inactive file system for all TCO accounts. 13.Performs other duties and assignments as required.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Personal computer, printers, network equipment and other general office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally conducted in an in area with a mild exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules. Work is in a very challenging environment.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Physical requirements include lifting, climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that are normally required. In addition, visual acuity, hearing and speaking requirements would be considered. Required Experience: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:College degree or equivalent experience
Experience:3-5 years experience
Additional: Must be a U.S. Citizen Must have valid Secret clearance Meets requirements outlined in AR 25-2 for NIPRNET access Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbal Customer service training DoD Information Assurance Awareness Training (https://ia.gordon.army.mil/dodiaa/) BICSI Information Transport Systems (ITS) Technician or equivalent 3-5 years experience as a telecommunications technician
