Technician-Systems
• BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
• 3 - 5 years experience in a 24 x 7, customer facing operations environment
• 3-5 years telecommunications experience
• 3 - 5 years Solaris and/or Red Hat Linux system administration experience
• 3-5 years experience with day-to-day Backup Operations preferably with Symantec NetBackup
• 3-5 year experience with Storage and SAN Operations preferably Cisco/Brocade products
• Scripting experience with either UNIX shell and/or PERL scripts
• Solid understanding of IP network protocols including IPv6
• Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communications skillsThe Technician - Systems is responsible for the day to day operational support of multiple Backup Infrastructure platforms in National Network Operations / Commercial Systems.
Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and quickly resolve problems in mission critical production environments
• Work with cross functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Monitor Backup Infrastructure performance and engage function teams to address issues
• Perform 24 x 7 on call responsibilities as needed
• Escalate production impacting issues as appropriate
• Create efficient solutions and procedures to troubleshoot and resolve customer affecting issues
• Make changes to Backup Infrastructure platform following established procedures
• Perform efficient systems analysis to ensure systems integrity and availability
• Execute disaster recovery procedures as needed
• Install application upgrades and patches
• Resolve trouble tickets in a timely manner
• Follow and enforces production system policies and procedures
