DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Perform fabrication, assembly and installation of prototype electro-mechanical components and systems
-Perform test, check-out, modification, repair, maintenance and operation of a variety of laboratory, experimental or commercial equipment and systems
-Utilize drawings, electrical schematics, written and verbal descriptions to perform tasks
-Operate machine shop equipment such as winding machines, lathes,millingmachines, drill presses etc.
-Interpret general instructions
-Plan sequence of assembly
-Maintain quality assurance documentation
-Prepare sketches and schematics
-May direct, guide, and instruct other technicians or craft personnel in maintenance of equipment, operation of tests, or laboratory
-May act as a lead or advisor on projects
-Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
-Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures
-Perform other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
-Typically requires an Associates’ degree or Certificate in a related discipline and five or more years of related experience.
-Additional related experience may be substituted in lieu of the formal education
-Must have ability to read and understand moderately complex technical instructions, drawings and schematics
--Must be able to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of technical personnel including engineers and scientists, interpret and explain moderately complex information
-Must be very proficient in the use of computer applications pertinent to the field, and have the skills necessary to precisely record technical data.
-May be required to work in unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogen, heights, weights, or radioactive materials
-Must be able to operation of machine shop equipment such as lathe, mill, drill press
-Ability to operate fork lift and overhead lifting cranes
-Perform assembly and soldering of printed circuit boards
-Ability to use diagnostic equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus
-Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security clearance.
-Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment
-Able to work extended hours as required
-Able to travel when necessary (5%)
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
-Working knowledge of standard desktop computer applications such as MS Word and Excel.
