The Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) discipline within Pratt and Whitney Engineering is responsible for the development and certification of control and diagnostic systems, algorithms, and software that manage engine operations, enables gas turbine engine integration with the aircraft and provides diagnostic/prognostics for propulsion system management and maintenance capabilities.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be working and providing leadership in a dynamic team environment responsible for the design, qualification, and certification of Engine System Control Algorithm and Software for gas turbine engines. The control software will be part of a system with a distributed architecture involving multiple electronic components.
Analyze engine system operating requirements and work with the external and internal customers and suppliers to define control system requirements.
Conduct control modes trade studies.
Develop advanced multi-variable and model based control algorithm.
Perform stability analysis, system identification and generation of linear models.
Perform requirements decomposition and develop control system and software level requirements.
Implement developed control algorithm using embedded control system design environment.
Work with the embedded software and verification teams to resolve technical and performance issues.
Extensive experience in modeling and controls analysis using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow is required.
Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident in the US.

Prior experience in system level requirements decomposition and writing specifications for control system is required.
Hands-on experience in the use of optimal control theory and stability robustness for multivariable, multi-rate systems with latencies is required.
The candidate must have in-depth applied knowledge in multivariable control design and stability analysis for complex, high gain, closed loop and coupled digital systems.
Knowledge and experience in the application of signal processing, system identification, nonlinear control, and numerical methods and optimization is preferred.
The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work at the implementation level to resolve problems.
Working knowledge of frequency response for multivariable and discrete time systems is required.
Control software experience is desirable.
Previous aerospace and military project experience preferred.
