Due to continued growth and expansion, we are now seeking to add a dynamic Senior Systems Engineer to our team.
If you have a desire to work on complex, thought provoking projects, then this is the opportunity for you. We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who designs, implements, administers, and supports VMware virtualization, Microsoft servers and Citrix (XenApp, Presentation Server) environments.
This position will report to our Stamford Office, but will also work on projects in and around Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY, as well as New York City and Long Island.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade activities.
Must be capable of presenting solutions to the client audience, developing detailed documentation, and driving service delivery of systems deployments, server migrations, Exchange upgrades, systems integration, server consolidation, and virtualization projects.
Must be able to contribute to assigned projects from inception to delivery.
Evaluate industry trends, standards and new technologies to recommend changes
Assist junior team members with any issues they cannot solve on their own. Support and assist them in their learning and knowledge base where applicable.
Assist in the provisioning and preparation of new customer orders which includes the installation and setup of hardware and software based on customer specifications.
Provide second and third level technical support for a mission critical corporate Windows server environment including server installs, migrations, upgrades, patch management, and application support.
Communicate effectively with management as to completion of tasks and achievement of milestones.
Staying abreast of software upgrades and patches as they become available
Required Skills
Thorough understanding of all server hardware components and functions and their dependency's and interworking with other hardware components. Proficient in hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.
Able to build a server from scratch given a specified configuration.
Able to install, configure and fully support Virtual Systems i.e., VMWare, Citrix, MS Hyper-V, etc
Able to install, configure and fully support Windows Server based apps, i.e., Active Directory, IIS, Terminal services, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Able to direct and assist technical staff with their assignments.
Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with employees at all levels of staff & management.
Excellent documentation skills.
Pro-active work ethic.
Must have detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems.
