Systems Engineer 2
This position is for development of long-term customer support of operations and engineering (sustainment) for the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) program. Design life for each satellite is approximately 14 years. Sustainment services are anticipated to continue for the life of the satellite constellation. Candidate will develop an understanding of the WGS system, satellite subsystems, Air Force (AF) concept of operations and interfaces with ground control hardware and software. Position requires the ability to test and validate satellite operations procedures, develop and present training materials, perform data trending, present status to customers, and develop operations processes for a new constellation of satellites. Will require interfacing with AF customer, space vehicle factory, Aerospace Corp. and other related contractors and sub-contractors in various locations. Specific experience in the following areas is a plus: satellite ground control systems, high fidelity satellite simulators, anomaly resolution, satellite launch and early orbit operations, satellite radio frequency (RF) and digital communications payloads, or Government satellite sustainment and operations. This position is located on Schriever AFB, near Colorado Springs, CO. Position will require periodic travel to support meetings, operations and training. Occasional shift work is required to support operations.

Basic Qualifications For ConsiderationDo you have experience with on-orbit satellite operations?
Typical Education/Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Other Job related information
Experience in development of satellite operations procedures, data trending and analysis, flight and ground software is desired. Knowledge of geo-synchronous communications satellites is a plus. Knowledge of government satellite operations is a plus. Experience with government satellite sustainment support is a plus. Excellent oral and written communications skills and presentation skills are a plus. Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance is required!
