System Administrator (Germany)
Provide life-cycle support for local and distributed IT systems. Systems include Microsoft server and client operating systems, thin client applications, Microsoft Office and Exchange Server, Active Directory, Domain Name Services, anti-virus and Host Based Security System, shared folders, and interfaces with specialized Web, database, and command and control (C2) applications. Lifecycle support includes planning, installation, configuration, testing, operation, monitoring, upgrading, patching, troubleshooting and repair in support of local and deployed users at all security classification levels.
Responsibilities:
- Install and configure Windows Server, Windows client, Microsoft Office and thin client software.
- Install, integrate, test and secure site unique software applications.
- Create, maintain, and manage system administrator and user accounts.
- Coordinate Tier II and III incident response and support with Consolidated Service Desk and software vendors.
- Provide technical advice, subject matter expertise, recommendations and advice to the government in support of defining and prioritizing requirements; designing and engineering system upgrades, replacements, and new solutions; and purchasing hardware and software solutions.
- Provide technical support for the preparation of documentation for installation, testing, service transition, continuity of operations, disaster response and recovery, and other standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with enterprise network, Web, database, and information assurance engineers and administrators for all installation, testing, integration, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Monitor, administer, document and report on system security posture in accordance with DoD and local information assurance guidance and policy.
- Prepare, pre-configure and test deployable equipment packages for remote connection and operation, train users and support personnel on system set-up and operation, and provide remote support to deployed personnel.
- Support the IT Service Manager by adhering to configuration management and change control policies and procedures.
Education, Training & Certification:
- B.S. degree in Information Technology or related field and two years of DoD system administration experience, or two years of military or commercial technical training and four years of DoD system administration experience.
- Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), Engineer (MCSE), or IT Professional (MCITP) required. Military system administration training and experience may be substituted for junior and mid-level positions on a case-by-case basis.
- ITIL v3 Foundations certification preferred.
- Experience supporting Special Operations Forces preferred.
- Must be able to obtain applicable DoDD 8570.01 certification(s) within six months of start date.
Unique/Additional Requirements:
- This position is contingent upon contract award.
- TS/SCI clearance required.
- Position may require shift and/or weekend work.
- Position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations worldwide.
- The work is typically performed in an office environment and at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
