Title: Surface Mount Machine Operator/Circuit Card Assembler
Location: Utah-Salt Lake City
This position will require a 9/80 work schedule for the first quarter for training. Tuesday through Saturday day or night shift.
Position Profile: The Surface Mount Machine Operator/Circuit Card Assembler will perform a wide variety of moderate to complex manufacturing, specialized functions, and interpret technical and detailed specifications in support of the new build and field returns on intelligence, surveillance, and imagery processing high performance data link systems and products for L-3 Communications - the sixth largest defense contractor in the United States
Competencies:The Surface Mount Machine Operator/Circuit Card Assembler will have the ability to use independent judgment while performing a variety of manufacturing tasks and processes related to data link systems.
* Skills and knowledge of rework/repair of surface mount and thru-hole circuit cards and applicable components is a plus.
* Possess current experience directly applicable with circuit card assembly, design, and engineering modifications.
* Ability to work from both oral and written instructions, engineering drawings, blueprints, on surface mount and thru-hole circuit cards and the applicable components.
* Correctly identify surface mount and through hole components.
* Working knowledge and experience with an Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system is a plus.
* Ability to identify the correct location and method needed for binning/auditing jobs to be produced at L-3.
* The candidate will be trained on proper paperwork and how to disseminate the various components and paperwork detail sequence.
* Ability to read blue prints/drawings with experience in soldering and component identification of thru-hole and surface mount components .
* Possess good soldering skills and current experience directly applicable with circuit card assembly, design, and engineering modifications.
* Be computer literate with the ability to communicate and comprehend effectively (verbally and written), and detail oriented while contributing in a team environment.
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
* Ability to work under a microscope for long periods of time.
Education/Experience:This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and three to five (3-5) years of good soldering skills and current experience directly applicable to circuit card assembly, design, and engineering, with a commitment to the highest quality achievable. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Internet browsers required. An understanding of and or certification to the IPC-610 criteria and J-Std-001 is a plus
Special Requirements:
* Due to the nature of our work this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense clearance (including COMSEC).
* Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications as required for employment with L-3 Communications for L-3 products and as a Surface Mount Operator/Assembler.
* Work locations near perishable and hazardous chemicals, solder cleaning solvents, etc.
* Position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
* This position will require a 9/80 work schedule for the first quarter for training. Work shift isTuesday through Saturday day or night shift.
* Overtime is required daily and /or on weekends (including holidays) and shift work if required.
This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicants skills, education and experience.
