Supplier Quality Engineer Country United States Work Location MA, West Springfield Job Description Lead and manage the implementation of a supplier quality system for ITT Power Solutions. This includes the establishment of metrics, audit schedules and development of improvement plans for key suppliers.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interface with Design Engineers, Product Engineers, Suppliers and End Users to resolve non-conforming material issues.
Perform root cause analysis for all non-conformances, including recommendations for correction. Ensure adequate follow-up and closure.
Specify general and unique inspection equipment requirements for all material received.
Identify and assist in implementing process enhancements by participating in Kaizen events and other problem solving techniques to streamline the receipt, inspection and protection of power supply eletromechanical components.
Lead and support the design and development of inspection methods for power supply components, including the creation of appropriate inspection forms to ensure proper inspection and documentaton.
Work with managers and purchasing to implement supplier audit process and schedule.
Coordinate and perform supplier audits as base on defect data.
Recommend process enhancements to improve yield or reduce cost.
Provide support for inspection of complex mechanical, machined and finished parts.
Examine layout and installation of wiring, cables, subassemblies, hardware and components to detect assembly errors.
Establish system to maintain quality documentation and inspection data records.
Implement supplier source inspection and qualification when requested by management.
Perform other duties as assigned. Required Experience: Five (5) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong technical knowledge on documentation standards, problem solving and implementation of continuous improvement methods required. Critical to success is the ability to team with suppliers, purchasing, operations and design to improve the overall quality of material being procured.
Ability to read and interpret requirements from drawing, blueprints, sketches, military specifications, operation plans to determine quality conformance.
Ability to use common mechanical inspection tools including caipers, height gauge, surface plate, pin gauge, plug guage and micrometers.
ANSI (14.5 geometric dimensions and tolerance working knowledge.
Knowledge of J-STD-OO1 Electronic Assembly Standards, IPC-A-610 Inspection Standards and ESD Standards.
