AutoReqId 33005BR Function Supply Chain External Job Title Supplier Development Engineer Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for leading Advanced Product Quality Planning at multiple suppliers and multiple Aerospace programs across the Aerospace Group. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: A. Applies detailed knowledge of APQP process and tools as they pertain to PROLaunch, industry regulatory and customer requirements and assures that all deliverables are clear, robust, effective, and efficient in satisfying all the requirements B. Leads/Participates in a cross-functional teams involving the supplier and Eaton functions in order to seek flawless launch utilizing APQP techniques. Acts as a liaison between Product Development. Supply Chain, Program Management, Sales Customer Service and Suppliers. C. Drives completion of projects and programs (PROLaunch-NPD as well as continuous improvement projects) across Aerospace using quantitative methods. D. Leads the development and implementation of the Advanced Quality planning tools at the supplier, FMEAs, Process flow Diagrams, Control Plans, Gage plan, Measurement System Analysis Statistical Process Control and 8-D E. Has the ability to determine the correct metrics and performance levels for the business. F. Applies extensive, in-depth knowledge on Six Sigma Methodology and a full range of problem solving tools and methods including advanced statistics & Total Process Control G. Assists in the implementation of supplier development activities such as Lean, VA/VE, six sigma, Manufacturing Site Assessment and implements supplier IDEAS programs H. Applies in-depth understanding and sound working knowledge of National and International Standards (e.g. ISO / AS / TS) and where applicable other Industry related standards including Customer specific requirements. I. Performs on-site supplier Quality System Assessment in order to assess compliance to defined requirements such as AS9100 and Nadcap. Identifies and drives system improvements. J. Drives compliance of a standard Aerospace Supplier Quality Manual, including processes, forms, audit procedures and performance measures. Drives AS9100 conformance/certification K. Designs/develops tools and techniques for measuring systems and devices L. Acts as escalation point for plants on chronic supplier performance issues, assists the supplier with problem solving and root cause analysis in order to eliminate recurrence and works with plant supplier quality on focus supplier or supplier management techniques Job Qualifications/Educational Requirements SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of basic metrology practices and evaluation techniques such as CMM, hand gages and basic laboratory testing practices. Knowledge of basic problem solving and analysis tools such as Pareto, 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone diagrams, etc. Knowledge and Certification on Six Sigma Methodology. Knowledge of industry specific quality registration schemes. i.e., ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP etc. Knowledge in auditing manufacturing processes for compliance to defined quality requirements. Knowledge in basic statistics. Education/Experience - Associates degree in a technical field and 3 years experience in manufacturing, quality, purchasing, engineering or Bachelors degree in a technical field. Experience should involve exposure to extrusion, NDT, machining of metals and CNC machining operations such as boring, grinding and broaching. Further experience in welding and plating processes would be beneficial.
