Structures Engineer - Engine Loads
Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most advanced jet engines, is looking for dedicated individuals to become a part of our organization. If you would like to work in an dynamic environment and possess the motivation to incorporate new ideas into practice, this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for!
This is your chance to join a company steeped in history yet focused on the future by developing engines that provide step-change improvements for the next generation of commercial aircraft and fifth generation fighters. Pratt & Whitney, a pioneer in flight and technology, is part of the United Technologies Corporation (UTC) family. UTC is a Fortune 50 company located in over 4,800 locations in approximately 80 countries with $54 billion in revenues (2010).
Creation, execution and post-processing of large engine system finite element models using ANSYS, NASTRAN and LS-DYNA or equivalent programs for prediction of static loads and deflections and transient dynamic responses; use of designed experiment techniques to optimize engine architecture and structure for key system metrics (e.g. weight, length, mount and bearing locaions, support stiffness...); analysis of multiple load types (e.g. thrust, manuever, flow field, blade loss, rotor seizure; crash and pressure); knowledge of modeling approaches for major rotor dynamic elements (e.g. cases, frames, mounts, flanges, rotors...); define major engine test plans and sensor suites; data reduction of sensor outputs and correlation of test results to pre-test predictions.
United Technologies Corporation is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.

Lead the resolution of technical issues; Guide the development of advanced design and analysis systems and products; mentor junior engineers; Participate in design review preparation, review, actions and follow-up; evaluate employee proficiency; improve and define discipline training requirements
