Minimum Requirements: BS from a recognized engineering school accredited by ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineers and Technology, Inc.). Education and training with primary structural emphasis and secondary civil/site-work design. Minimum 3 years experience in one or more of the following: fossil power plant and environment equipment, petroleum refining, petrochemical, chemical industries engaged in producing complete civil/structural design packages for construction. Design experience should apply toward becoming a registered PE. Requires EIT. Must be able to perform computer aided structural modeling and drawing using software such as STAAD, RISA 3D, AutoCad, or Microstation. Professional oral and written communication is required. Job Description: Performs moderately complicated design tasks in accordance with accepted engineering standards and codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE, etc., utilizing manual and/or computer methods including checking design calculations, checking design drawings for accuracy, completeness, clarity and approval on all designs. Structural design and analysis of steel and concrete structures, foundations, developing framing layout and connection details, civil plans, building design, ductwork, tank and vessel design, front end engineering, cost and quantity estimates, project specifications and schedules. Assists in the preparation of specifications and the development of design standards. Checks shop drawings and vendor prints for completeness and clarity. Handles small projects, including technical and project management issues under the direction of a Professional Engineer. Interacts with clients; keeps clients informed of project status. Some field/construction inspections and problem resolution required.
