Posted Position Title Staff Engineer/Technologist Career Level Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment Product Design and Development Location India City Bangalore Postal Code 560066 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose Staff Engineer in Marine, Stationary & Drill-Engines-Mechanical Technologies COE, Bangalore, will be responsible for design & development of various engine subsystems/Components with an in-depth focus on Mechanical design activities. The position requires a self-motivated team player who can work with internal design, system engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, field service and external consultants for successful implementation of various solutions to effect business goals. Essential Responsibilities The person would be involved in design and development of various Large Diesel Engine programs for Marine and Stationary Market to meet performance, cost & reliability targets. Will be responsible for Component/ Subsystem Design through, Requirements analysis, Design Conceptualization, trade-off, DFMEA, risk-mitigation, modeling, tolerance stack-up, DFA/DFM, detailing of design and prepare and execute test and validation plan of components/ Assembly. Will be responsible to provide ongoing Engineering Support to Manufacturing & field Service during product development, new product introduction and various other Marinization programs. Will work with the global cross functional teams from Product Engineering, supply chain, Application Engineering and Commercial for supporting the product development. Will have complete ownership of assigned projects to drive them for closure with technical solution while meeting all performance, reliability, quality, and cost targets. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline from an institute of repute. Min. 12 years in diesel / gasoline engine design, development & testing experience. Good understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T standards, materials & manufacturing processes, Numerical Methods and analysis. Proficiency in design, test & analysis tool relevant to job function· Good project management, influencing skills. Strong verbal & written communication and ability to interact globally. Desired Characteristics Strong educational background with an Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in IC Engines/ Machine Design/ Engineering Mechanics. Prior Experience or Knowledge on Diesel Engine Emissions will be a plus. Experience with large diesel engine design, development & testing. Knowledge of statistical methodology of analysis/ design or a Six sigma GB/BB certification (GE Only). Good understanding of engine mechanical interface needs, component boundary conditions. Good understanding of engine component failure modes, validation requirement & material behaviours.
