Staff Engineer - ProcessIn this role, you will work hand in hand with our quality, design, and manufacturing teams, with your primary focus being to ensure that products are designed for manufacturability and that processes are developed, validated, and controlled. The most successful candidates will be eager to take on new challenges and work well in a team environment, as well as have the ability to build strong relationships with team members from other departments. On the technical side, the top candidates will be well versed in GMAW, GTAW, and resistance welding, Process Validation, Process Automation, Risk Analysis and Problem Solving. They will also have the creativity to find alternate and better solutions to processes and products. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with welding in a manufacturing environment.
The Process Engineer will also develop and implement production and processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner. He/she will Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems, recommend and implement improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters. Furthermore, he/she will monitor assigned operations to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards, review proposals of outside vendors regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing production/processing equipment, know and apply the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the process engineering specialization.
The Process Engineer who joins the Stryker Medical team:
• Works in a hands-on manner to develop system level process methods and controls strategies, makes recommendations to management and coordinates implementation.
• Provides support in the implementation of the design, development, testing, and refinement of system, sub-system, and component processing methods and controls.
• Identifies sources of waste in production and implements changes to drive cost, quality, and throughput improvements.
• Reports observations/problems clearly and concisely, recognizing and highlighting specific deviations. Provides on-going status reports including periodic reviews, progress, and evaluation of results to management.
• Accountable for all record-keeping as appropriate and in accordance with Stryker specifications.
• Focuses on customer satisfaction through teamwork and empowerment, solving problems through a consultative approach, operating with honesty and integrity and providing a highly responsive level of customer service.
• Works with limited supervision and instruction of more experienced staff.
Other job responsibilities will include: Leading manufacturing process/ software validations, test method validations, process capability studies, and process improvements. Selecting and utilizing a wide range of appropriate statistical methodologies and techniques. Supporting technology transfer activities, process/ software characterization studies and gauge R&R studies within the Manufacturing Process. Providing guidance on the equipment/process/ software validation requirements and design control activities for new product development projects. Experience with development and control of manual and robotic welding, GMAW, GTAW, and resistance welding processes is strongly desired.
Qualifications/Work Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline • GPA of 3.0 or higher, strongly preferred • Achieved a limited (learning)level of industry knowledge • Must possess excellent presentation and communication skills • Must be PC literate
