General Job Summary:
The Senior Designer's primary role is to identify and propose actionable and effective brand appropriate design solutions that deliver on our business goals, ensure site-wide consistency and provide a foundation for future enhancements. This team member will work closely with key stakeholders and various team members to conceptualize, plan and execute design solutions for .
Job Responsibilities:
* Ultimately accountable for executing sound recommendations on the creative design of and maintaining appropriate design standards site wide.
* Translate strategy, business requirements, site architecture artifacts, consumer research findings and usability and design best practices into design solutions that are inline with KBB's brand identity and meet project specifications.
* Obtain a thorough understanding of all business and user requirements.
* Participate in usability testing, including evaluating the results and incorporating feedback into the design artifacts.
* Keep up-to-date on usability and design best practices and industry standards.
* Contribute to and execute design solutions inline with expectations.
* Create and manage design artifacts, creative mock-ups and maintain site wide consistency of creative elements such as typography, color scheme, photography and general graphic assets.
* Create consistent design solutions on both a site-wide and a page-by-page level adhering to design uniformity within and across projects.
* Responsible for maintaining style guide consistency and making recommendations on style guide adjustments, as appropriate.
* Accountable for deliverables and overall quality and design consistency of work product.
* Present recommendations and negotiate win/win solutions with project team members.
* Work through and bring clarity to design issues and present clearly articulated solutions.
* Collaborate with key team members and help drive consensus.
* Participate in periodic reviews of work in progress to facilitate communication with business and project team members to ensure proposed solutions meet business and project needs.
* Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and produce quality work in a fast-paced environment.
* Contribute to project schedules, negotiate and meet deadlines.
* Support User Experience and Production teams in their work processes, as applicable.
* Participate in project team meetings during various phases of assigned projects, as appropriate.
* Contribute to the standardization and streamlining of creative team documentation and processes.
Required Skills - Attributes & Education:
* Bachelor of Arts degree from a four-year college or university in Graphic Design; or two to four years related experience including participating in the creative execution of large scaled projects for an established, heavily trafficked, consumer facing Web site; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Proven skills in PhotoShop, Illustrator, Fireworks and Flash as well as a working knowledge of HTML. Knowledge of InDesign and QuarkXPress helpful.
* Broad understanding of the Web and associated technologies and proficiency with a range of appropriate software tools.
* Demonstrated use of intermediate computer operations (basic programming in 3rd and 4th generation languages, relational databases, and operating systems) and intermediate software packages (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.).
* Professional experience collaborating in a team environment on large-scale Web site development projects.
* Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a high level of service orientation.
* Strong visual, verbal and written communication skills including documentation and collaboration abilities.
* Comfortable communicating with, presenting to and taking input from a variety of people, including senior management.
* Detail oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Desire and ability to thrive in fast-paced, growing, dynamic environment.
* Strong background in online design, marketing and advertising.
* Thorough understanding of best practices in Web design and user interface/information architecture conventions.
* In-depth knowledge of typography, page/screen layout, composition and color theory. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
