Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer Specialist
Job Department / Program: Payload Systems Engineer
Job Location: Palo Alto, California
Team/Department: Communications Systems - Payload Systems Engineering is the primary function behind a satellite. The work includes proposal efforts, front end design, detailed analyses and development and integration and testing of the end product. Interdisciplinary teams from multiple subsystems keep the tasks fresh and exciting. Some travel to suppliers and operators can offer a unique experience and opportunity to better understand the customer's end needs.
Role/Job Responsibilities:
.Acts as Responsible Engineer for a satellite communications subsystem or a major portion of a system
.Develops system requirements, specifications and architecture
.Analysis and resolve complex operational issues/problems and implements corrective actions
.Leads system level tests and assists in development and definition of a spacecraft program
.Develops methods, standards, plans and procedures for system engineering tools, test and operation documents
.Conducts Engineering Review boards and technical briefings
.Monitors system development and mission analysis and provides original solutions to complex technical problems
.Performs advanced research design and development in at least two engineering specialties such as mission, communications, Telemetry Command & Ranging, imaging or payload component design
.Participates in proposals by developing technical portions of teaming agreements, estimating costs and estimating schedules
.Monitors and manages technical, cost and schedule performance on sub contracts and internal efforts of moderate size and complexity
.Serves as principal member of a mission operations team
Job Qualifications:
.Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field. Advanced degrees in specialized field of engineering or science desirable
.Understanding of computer aided design, modeling and analysis tools and their application to satellite communications systems
.Understanding of Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics and Mathematics as they relate to satellite communications systems
.10 years of related work experience. 8 years with MS degree. 6 years with Ph. D.
