Description:
This requisition is for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Systems Engineering department within CNS Systems Engineering. This engineer will act as a Project Engineer (PE) with systems engineering responsibility for an avionics suite on an international program. It is likely that this PE will be required to travel to China periodically to support business meetings. Thus, the successful applicant must be willing and able to travel and work in China.
The PE reports directly to a Technical Project Manager (TPM) on this program for the purposes of ensuring project execution to plan. The responsibilities include maintaining detailed schedules, milestones, costs, and work centers as the project lead during the initial Joint Development Phase (JDP) and then through full-scale development and certification onto the airframe. The PE will also generate engineering estimate responses and design plans. The PE will identify risks and opportunities, ensure compliance to the Rockwell Collins Technical Consistent Process, and prepare reports to management. The successful candidate must be conversant with Earned Value management techniques and be capable of gathering, managing and reporting earned Value metrics. The successful applicant must be able to multitask on a variety of different avionics systems associated with Communication, Navigation and Surveillance.
The successful candidate will:
· Have significant domain knowledge of avionics products and systems. · Have significant knowledge of aircraft and avionics certification. · Be able to support and provide major contributions to system architectural decisions. · Be able to support and provide major contributions to: the capture and management of requirements, to the design process, and test/system integration. · Be able to make decisions that may have significant impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance. · Be able to recommend new tools and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in systems development processes. · Act as a mentor to engineers in areas of domain knowledge and lessons learned. · Lead preparation of proposals and presentations. · Estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules while managing scope & risk. · Provide input to technical & product roadmaps

Minimum Requirements:
· The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable engineering or science field, and eight years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, fourteen years of related experience. · Will be currently performing a PE role, or its equivalent, preferably in the aerospace industry, or will have substantial experience in this type of role with some of that experience being recent.
Bonus Requirements:
· Further education attainment at Masters Degree level in an applicable engineering or science field, and/or in a business discipline. · Accreditation as a Project Management Professional (PMP) E3- Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, and six years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, twelve years of related experience.
E4- Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, and eight years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, fourteen years of related experience.
