Unix System Administrator
Overview
AT&T Wi-Fi Services is the largest Wi-Fi Internet provider in the country. We are a growing organization with many national customers in the retail, hospitality and sport arena industries.
This position reports to the IT Systems Manager and will perform Linux system administration in an exciting, fast-paced, 24x7, Linux, Oracle, and Windows-based heterogeneous environment.
This position is a key member of the team responsible for the implementation and management of the company's entire Linux infrastructure, including the mission-critical systems that support AWS products and services. Responsible for providing 24x7 hardware, software, OS, application, and networking support for all of AWS's Linux systems. Additional responsibilities include managing corporate network services such as DNS, BIND, DHCP, SMTP, Sendmail, TACACS, Radius, and Kerberos. Plan, evaluate, test, and deploy new systems and applications to support the needs of the company. Manage both short-term tasks as well as long-term projects.
Works with moderate supervision side by side with the other Linux administrators and IT teams to provide support for all Linux systems, including system implementation and management, package builds, permission changes and ticket requests, as well as propose and implement new system enhancements. Also work closely with IT and Engineering team members and users to understand the requirements and needs of the business, implement new solutions, and contribute to the overall stability and success of the company.
Qualifications
Successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
· Minimum 2 years of Linux system administration experience in an environment.
· Strong experience with Linux
· Strong hardware skills with X86 platforms
· Experience with Linux packaging systems (DEB and RPM)
· Experience with operating, and maintaining various security systems including Kerberos, SSH, TACACS, RADIUS
· Experience with DNS, BIND, DHCP with demonstrated ability to configure and fix as necessary
· Experience with PXE boot and FAI
· Experience administrating SMTP and Sendmail
· Participate in on-call support and maintenance rotations
· Excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated commitment to producing high quality documentation
· Ability to work well with others across many organizations including development, sales, marketing, finance, customer support, and field service
· Strong time management skills and proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet all schedules
· Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
· Strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn is a must
· Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service
Experience with any of the following is not required, but is a big plus:
· Perl and/or Linux shell scripting/programming skills
· Enterprise storage including RAID systems, SANs, and/or NAS
· Cisco routers, switches, and IOS
