Job Description: Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) is the leading manufacturer of satellites located in Palo Alto, at SSL employees develop and build some of the most powerful and innovative satellite systems in the industry, and you can become a part of our team today! We currently have a career opportunity available for a senior mechanical design engineer, you will design and coordinate the mechanical design layout of satellite and satellite subsystems for all programs. The successful candidate will be the responsible engineer for portions of satellite design projects in this role you will use Pro/E, generate satellite equipment layouts that satisfy system requirements, internal and external to the spacecraft and account for tradeoffs among thermal, mass properties, structural & manufacturing consideration. You will identify and solve design problems, design RF interconnects between components and subsystems and design mounting equipment such as brackets and struts that are necessary to support equipment and interconnects. Other responsibilities include providing engineering support to spacecraft integration and present technical ideas and design status. Will support proposal efforts through internal and external conceptual layouts. Minimum Requirements for this position are five (5 ) years experience in spacecraft mechanical design or equivalent. Must be familiar with general engineering drawing practices and General Dimension and Tolerance. Familiarity with PRoE software or equivalent CAD tool. Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Minimum educational requirements are five (5) years experience with BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering or three (3) years with a MS. Space Systems/Loral has export control and security issues that require attention to citizenship status of every individual performing work on its behalf.
