Sr. Flight Test Engineer (MiDAESS/HSV)
Title: Sr. Flight Test Engineer (MiDAESS/HSV) Location: AL: ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE CSC seeks an engineer experienced in flight test planning, project support to scenario design, performance predictions, post test performance analysis, flight data capture and processing techniques. Candidate selected will possess expertise in one or more areas of engineering that enable test requirements development and analysis of specific test events, assessment of test parameters and system architecture effects on flight test results. The candidate will be expected to communicate highly complex technical issues to senior government/contractor leaders. US citizenship is required as the position requires a current/active SECRET clearance. This position is contingent upon award of MiDAESS IDIQ award and follow-on task order awards. Some travel may be required. Essential Job Functions * Plans and conceptualizes new products and product enhancements. Acts as expert resource in mechanical design meetings. Prepares project plans and objectives in conjunction with business development, product support and other team members. * Develops and analyzes highly complex aeronautical/astronautical systems designs for current and conceptualized hardware, components and systems. Directs the preparation of plans and drawings using design software. * Develops qualification test procedures and performs qualification testing. Conducts testing and integration testing for functionality and limits. Examines and evaluates mechanical designs for feasibility. Makes changes and/or escalates project to prototype phase as appropriate. * Creates working prototype(s) for evaluation and customer demonstration. Analyzes critical areas of the design including dimensional, structural and thermal. Prepares reports of results and conclusions. Recommends and implements changes to design based on conclusions. * Interfaces with suppliers, vendors/contractors and cross functional teams to ensure necessary resources are available for product implementation. Provides expertise to production staff to ensure accurate production of product. * Researches new technology and/or development tools to remain informed of current technology. Recommends changes to current processes as appropriate. * Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel. Basic Qualifications * Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred * Ten or more years of experience in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, product design and development * Experience working with aeronautical/astronautical design principles and practices * Experience working with product design principles * Experience working with project engineering and project management including integrated design/product team operations and management * Experience working with Interdisciplinary engineering Other Qualifications * US citizenship is required * Active DoD Secret clearance required * Expertise in one or more areas of engineering that enable test requirements development and analysis of specific test events, assessment of test parameters and system architecture effects on flight test results required * Strong skills in computer assisted design (CAD) software such as Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, etc. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills for the design and testing of prototype(s) through product release * Strong organization and time management skills to maintain project deadlines * Strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members, vendors and contractors * Strong communication skills to interact with internal and external personnel and to convey project intent * Ability to use common power and hand tools and electrical and tolerance measuring devices and equipment for the development of prototypes * Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
