Sr Design Quality Engineer
Title: Sr Design Quality Engineer Location: Florida-Melbourne, FL POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing engineering teams with quality-focused technical and process activities at the project level for new Rockwell Collins product developments, to assure new product designs meet or exceed requirements, engineering processes are followed, customer and regulatory agency requirements are met, and defects are identified and eliminated prior to transition to production.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: - Primary Design Quality Focal Point for those engineering developments assigned, including ASIC/Complex device development. - Assure new developments meet customer, company, DO-254, and regulatory requirements. - Proactively assess development projects on an ongoing basis to determine "health" of the project via process and work product assessment/audit using the appropriate tool sets. - Lead the effort to ensure quality issues seen in legacy products (both in factory and field) are eliminated in new designs. Facilitate cross-functional teams (PQA, AE, SCQA, Engineering, Manufacturing) to accomplish this. - Lead the development and statusing of Quality Plans for those engineering developments assigned. - Mentor engineering teams regarding process, Quality, and regulatory requirements in order to ensure problem-free product and artifact deliveries. Ensure robust design through assisting engineering in the use of appropriate tools and practices. - Employ Quality-related tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Variation Reduction, Key Characteristics, etc. as appropriate. Produce metric reports for management review. - Participate in a contribute to project team meetings, design/drawing reviews, peer reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, TPRs, PDRs, CDRs, and other associated meetings. Provide data collection, analysis, and reporting to support these meetings as required. - Lead creation of customer-specific Design Assurance documentation for new product developments as required. - Perform Conformity and First Article Inspections as required for assigned developments. - Work with Manufacturing Representatives to ensure comprehensive Factory Transition planning, and smooth transition to production. - Other responsibilities as assigned.
Working knowledge of the aerospace industry, Design Engineering, manufacturing, DO-254, ISO-9001, AS9100, and Airbus ABD100/200/GRESS desired. Design engineering experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering field preferred. Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, and six years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, twelve years of related experience.
