Our business complements and enhances ATK’s menu of products in the commercial and defense marketplaces. Our SMA division in Ft Worth is seeking a Sr. Aircraft Mission Equipment Design Engineer. Job Summary We are seeking a proactive Senior Level Aircraft Mission Equipment Design Engineer with both hands - on and analytical approaches to the detailed design and installation of mission and green aircraft avionics equipment in military and FAA certified aircraft. Ability to lead Electrical engineering teams is a required attribute. Responsible for all Electrical system and detailed designs on airborne mission programs. Mission systems contain multiple sensor subsystems, Radar, Communications both Line of Site and Beyond Line of Site secure voice/data, multispectral sensors and data systems including video and wideband data links. In depth knowledge of aircraft avionics and installation design standards for Military and FAA certified aircraft is a must. Individual will conduct top down system designs accounting for all facets of the mission and green aircraft packages. Duties include flow down of program requirements, system definition, system analysis, trade studies, risk assessment, component selection, Electrical design schedule and budget, test support, integration, support of sell off and after delivery support. The Senior Design Engineer will function as the primary focal for internal and external customers including Project, Mechanical and Software Engineering, Test, Operations, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Logistics Support. Individual will also support Business Development and Management Strategic initiatives in support of the business unit. Requirements * Leadership of Electrical engineering teams and programs * Operate as the Electrical focal providing representation supporting internal customers (Mechanical, Certification, Software, Test and Project Engineering) * Thorough understanding FAA installation and wiring standards along with airborne Military mission equipment specifications * Experience with FAA DER interactions and reviews * Identify mission system key characteristics and parameters * Develop subsystem requirements and description using established design processes (ISO 9001) * Perform all necessary analysis including RF link budget analysis, EMI/EMC, networks, video distribution, ELA, subsystem compatibility and co-site interference issues * Identify and manage all system and component risks including mitigation initiatives * Deliver system level and detailed level Electrical package designs for each assigned project * Manage configuration control of designs through integration, test, demonstration and sell off including FAA certification * Generate and release all analysis, reports and related substantiation documentation in support of company programs and FAA certification * Support and advise after delivery and life cycle support of company programs as needed * Participate in technical proposal teams in support of unit business development efforts * Identify, submit and conduct IR&D activities including management of budget, scope and schedule Additional Information 15 or more years of Aircraft mission and avionics system and subsystem detailed design experience utilizing FAA standards. Demonstrated knowledge of necessary parametrics to ensure a comprehensive system and detailed design. Candidate must be able to show a demonstrated capability in the use of AutoCAD. Candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the development, design and specification of Mission and Green Aircraft systems and components. Candidate must also have hands - on knowledge and proficiency in the specification and use of appropriate laboratory equipment.
