Space Exploration Systems Engineer 2
Boeing Space Exploration is a leading provider of human space flight and space exploration systems and services. Since the dawn of the Space Age, Boeing has designed, developed, built and operated human and robotic space vehicles as well as supporting hardware. The Boeing legacy began with the X-15, spanned Gemini, Mercury, Apollo and Skylab, and continues with the Space Shuttle, International Space Station and Commercial Crew programs. Space Exploration, a division within Boeing Defense, Space and Security Network and Space Systems business, employs approximately 3,000 people in Alabama, California, Florida and Texas. As NASA defines it roadmap for the future, Boeing will apply its 50 years of experience in human spaceflight to assist NASA as it matures the technologies needed, such as a Space Launch System for crewed exploration missions beyond Earth orbit, while leveraging our design work to date on the Ares I upper stage rocket and associated avionics. The Exploration Launch Systems office, located in Huntsville, AL, supports NASA on strategy and policy on Space Exploration programs procured by the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) and in the development of human-rated heavy lift rockets. As a member of the Space Exploration team the selected individual will typically be paired with a senior engineer to perform systems engineering tasks associated with the development and verification of vehicle performance requirements. Typical responsibilities include performing trade studies, deriving requirements, and defining verification methods and objectives. This position also includes documenting engineering analyses and assessments, preparing and presenting briefing charts, providing task status and tracking metrics. Occasional travel is required. Boeing offers programs to support career advancement and learning opportunities and technologically challenging assignments. This position offers an opportunity for employees to also enjoy the advantages of living and working in Huntsville. Missile defense and space exploration are at the heart of this community, where there are more engineers per capita than anywhere else in the nation. Huntsville offers a wide range of cultural and recreational opportunities, and the natural beauty of the area provides unlimited opportunities for hiking, biking, golfing, outdoor exploration and water sports on the Tennessee River. *** This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. US Citizenship required. ***REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years of engineering experience.
