Sourcing Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity to join an international leader in the design and manufacture of pumps, systems and accessories for residential, municipal and commercial applications including water, wells, HVAC systems, pressure boosters, boiler controls and fire protection. ITT Residential & Commercial Water (RCW) is seeking a Sourcing Engineer, Casting and Castings Machined responsible for providing technical leadership in the selection of casting suppliers, new part and tool development, and resolving current technical issues affecting the supply of castings to our operations from our suppliers. The sourcing engineer is a key team member who supports the execution of sourcing projects related to machined castings from current and new suppliers, world wide. The sourcing engineer assists the Sr. Casting Category Manager in the strategic development of the long term sourcing strategy for lowest cost and best supply performance to the plants world wide. The goal of sourcing projects is to drive the generation of a first article inspection point, final gate review, and subsequent sourcing of the product as per the defined schedule and cost estimate, including working directly with suppliers to ensure timely and on-budget transition of product, component or service being sourced. The sourcing engineer's technical manufacturing and design expertise is utilized to ensure proper supplier selection, clear specification development, supplier qualification of process capability to be able to manuacture the parts, cost breakdown analysis to ensure fair executable process plans for part production, translation of requirements from ITT engineering to the supplier to ensure successful sourcing projects.
Responsibilities and duties include:
-Develop detailed project plans (including cost estimates and schedules) to transition products, components, or services to out-source, in-source or dual-/multi-source arrangements
-Prevent, identify and resolve technical supplier production issues through pre-planning, supplier readiness reviews, issue diagnosis, and risk mitigation and resolution
-Assess and evaluate supplier capabilities through a thorough knowledge of supplier production and technical capabilities, and ability to meet RCW specifications, quality levels, lead times, and on-time delivery requirements specified in the sourcing strategies
-Conduct project-related supplier development activities to enhance lean manufacturing capabilities (e.g. Kaizen events) and support castings strategy development with Sr. Castings Category Manager
-Using technical documentation, develop cost breakdowns to determine fair and reasonable costs sourced products, components or services including: process steps, material requirements, costs, machine cycle times, labor cycle times, machine/production resource needs, approximate hourly rates per process step, overall SG&A costing and overall profit calculations as part of sourcing strategy
-Productively challenge supplier estimates at variance from internally-created cost estimates lead by the sourcing engineer
-After product, component, or service has been successfully out-sourced, in-sourced, newly sourced, or dual-/multi-sourced, provide technical support to the supplier, operations, or supply chain organization to ensure ongoing resolution of chronic or critical issues and target continuous improvement in the areas of cost, delivery, yield and lead-times for sourcing
-With the Sr. Category Manager and site materials team, develop a transition budget and production transition plan to ensure that inventory overlap or co-production plans are executed to ensure supply
-With the Sr. Category Manager, orchestrate transfer of all resources to the new source, including tooling requirements (transfer of all instructions/technical drawings or creation of capital request for new tooling/fixtures as needed), purchase orders, coordination of physical transfer of resources or other items to ensure all resources are in place at the new sourcing location
-Co-develop the strategic sourcing strategy for castings with the Sr. Category Manager

-At least five years hands-on manufacturing experience in ferrous and non ferrous sand castings and/or investment castings (sand castings preferred)
-Ability to travel 25% to 30% domestically and internationally as needed to execute sourcing projects.
-Experience working in foundries and machine shops within a foundry/machining company and/or with supplier on technical issues related to castings, including supplier evaluation
-Strong ability in GD&T and technical understanding of castings, tooling and machining drawings
-MS Office skills; proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Relevant Skills/Experience:
-Driving/facilitating overall cost, quality and delivery improvements across sourced products, components or services using technical skills in machined castings
-Development of project plans and lead implementation of transition for sourced products, components or services
-Identifying and eliminating barriers
-Lead projects to transition of sourced products, components or services
-Strong technical background in casting (sand/investment) and machining processes, and ability to conduct technical design reviews with engineers and suppliers for successful project deployment
-Ability to work with engineers and suppliers to obtain qualified parts meeting quality criteria and obtain cost savings through proper specification creation
-Ability to review supplier's operation (equipment, parts, engineering departments) and determine supplier's capability to successfully meet RCW quality, delivery, and technical requirements
-Ability to root cause supplier manufacturing issues and assist
suppliers in resolving problems, and documenting the overall proper processes for successful sustainable manufacturing
-International casting experience in Asia and/or Mexico, a plus Minimum Education Requirements BS/BA Degree or Equivalent Percent of Travel Required 25%
