Software Application Developer
Title: Software Application Developer Location: North America-USA-Missouri-St. Louis Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual who is excited about applying software application development skills to support a world class biotechnology pipeline. This position will be embedded among research and development (R&D) scientists and provides the unique opportunity to work hand in hand to create innovative IT tools to provide critical functionality and prototype features to aid in the design process for the enterprise software development group.
The Application Developer will work with the TFS Team within Monsanto to develop and maintain applications built mostly on the .NET platform. The candidate will work as part of a small team of developers working with various .NET technologies including , Windows Forms/WPF, and Windows Mobile as well as database technologies including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. Responsibilities will span the entire software development cycle and involve heavy interaction with highly technical end users.
Responsibilities include: * Collaborate with a wide variety of professionals in the TFS organization to design and implement tools and systems that are critical to delivering the biotechnology trait pipeline. * Collaborate with a wide variety of professionals in both the IT and TPS organizations that design and maintain enterprise databases and user interfaces in order to maximize the overall IT benefit to the TFS organization. * Be very familiar with database schemas both within TFS as well as enterprise systems and be able to query these databases using complex SQL queries. * Be willing to assist with other technologies that are used by scientists such as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and Oracle APEX. Required Skills: * A BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience. * At least three years of experience as a programmer/analyst in a technical or scientific environment. * Ability to understand complex problems and create simple and efficient solutions. * Experience in software development utilizing Microsoft .NET * Experience creating and optimizing queries of complex relational databases * Experience with object-oriented methodologies. * The demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies as needed. * The demonstrated ability to work independently.
