Smoothstone is the leading provider of cloud-based unified communications applications. The Sales Engineer is responsible for actively participating in Smoothstone's overall sales strategy. Through the demonstrated use of technical expertise, this position will serve as a support function through engagement in both the pre and post sales process. The Sales Engineer will be required to present technical solutions and determine, in a consultative manner, the appropriate solution(s) for potential and existing clients. A strong understanding of MPLS, IP telephony and LAN/switching technologies is a requirement for this position.
Partial responsibilities include:
1. Ensure that the solution designed during the sales process is appropriate from delivery, support and functionality purposes. The design must be thoroughly documented and conveyed in various manners including, but not limited to, visio diagrams, contractual/service notes and scope of work. Attention to detail is a must have characteristic for this portion of the job. 2. Ensure appropriate margin levels are maintained when designing the appropriate solution. Responsible for taking the design and understanding the various cost components with each aspect of the design and how that design (or solution) will be utilized by the client to ensure proper margins are attained. 3. Contribute and promote the team sell process with the RSM, interfacing with the clients, ensuring a complete understanding of the existing technical infrastructure for potential clients and properly convey the technical aspects of the Smoothstone solution, how it integrates with the existing infrastructure, the benefits and value. 4. Ensure all appropriate aspects of the solution sold is conveyed in a detailed manner to the Project Manager/Engineer/IE, along with being a constant throughout the implementation process. Additionally, supporting the PM on an as needed basis with the premise of keeping the project within scope of what was sold and within the original timelines established when the project was sold. 5. Responsible for knowing the various aspects of the Smoothstone solutions, including our MPLS delivery methods, various voice solutions and methods for which those solutions are delivered, and the special apps Smoothstone delivers; also includes appropriately interfacing with Product Management and Development, conveying in detail client wants/needs and understanding the various aspects of any custom solution for the purpose of relaying to the client.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor Degree in MIS, Computer Science or similar program OR combination of education and experience in relevant industry. 2. 5+ years telecommunications industry experience in Sales Engineering capacity. 3. Cisco CCNA/DA Certification or higher, highly preferred. 4. Experience in implementing/supporting Cisco based network solutions (prefer IP Telephony based solutions) 5. Experience selling network based solutions. 6. Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Visio. 7. Ability to travel up to 50%.
