POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provide technical leadership in developing meteorological visualizations used by worldwide DOD users. Incumbent designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. The position is located on Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Understanding of software engineering principals . Experience with configuration management systems such as Mercurial, SVN, and/or CVS . Unix/Linux familiarity . Python development experience . Application administration experience . Ability to work in a team as well as independently . Understanding of geospatial information systems . Strong verbal and written communication skills . Java development experience . GIS Experience . Web services experience . Weather experience . Visualization software development experience
