We are currently recruiting for an Engineer III Thermal Performance in Cedar Rapids, IA or Madison, WI. The person in this exciting position will help us improve competitive position and profitability through improved thermal performance for at least four major power plants. We prefer to find someone with experience working with combustion turbines and combined cycle power plants. This position may be posted both internally and externally and may be filled at a higher level depending on the qualifications of the individual selected. Job Summary:

Collaborate with power plant leadership to perform complex thermal analysis on several of our combustine turbines and combined cycle power plants.

Responsible for planning, directing, and implementing major, advanced, and complex projects in a safe and environmentally conscious manner, in order to maintain and improve competitive position and profitability through improved thermal performance for at least four major power plants. Responsible for project cost/benefit analysis, and initiating review of permit implications. May be involved in, or working with, engineering project management in developing detailed design and work packages, managing costs and schedules, coordinating equipment start-up and performance testing, and negotiating contract close-outs.

Job Accountabilities:

Interfaces with other Generation engineering groups, technical specialists, and plant management to ensure that thermal performance engineering services and programs align with generation plant and business unit financial and operating goals and are delivered to the satisfaction of the customer.

Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires an in depth understanding of Company and OSHA safety rules and practices. Encourages safe work behaviors, and promptly corrects conditions and unsafe behaviors which may lead to accidents and personnel injury.

Identifies and develops innovative methods for improving thermal performance engineering processes and techniques.

Oversees the maintenance and usage of thermal performance databases and tools such as General Physics Pi database, EtaPro system, and other diagnostic tools.

Promotes and supports diversity initiatives and equal employment opportunity.

Job Qualifications:

Education or experience equivalent to a four year degree from an accredited college or university, with emphasis in engineering.

A minimum of five to eight years technical and/or professional experience.

Thorough knowledge of electric and steam generation industry, and plant operations.

Project management experience preferred, along with ability to deal with subcontractors and cross-functional teams; may have expertise in a particular area of the discipline.

Demonstrated in-depth understanding of thermodynamics as it relates to generation of electricity.

Understanding of operations related financial and business skills including budgeting, utility economics, net present value and energy markets.

Must possess strong interpersonal skills including team facilitation and negotiation and conflict management, written and verbal communication, influence and persuasion techniques, coaching techniques and group presentation.

Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred.

Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
