Senior Technical Specialist - Powertrain Controls Development
TheSenior Technical Specialist is responsible forproviding strategic and technical leadership in the development and long-range planning of Powertrain Controls. We are looking for top talent to continue the development of current and next generation Powertrain technologies for Chrysler Group LLC. The ideal candidate must be a strong team player, systems focused with interdisciplinary experience & expertise, and willing to work in fast paced environment. Primary duties include serving as technical expert while performing, overseeing, and reviewing research and development, design, and implementation of engine management system strategies and diagnostics. Serve as a key ""point person"" for a specific process/technology/specialty area with demonstrated ability to train other engineers. Interface and create effective relationships with cross-functional and/or external groups. Maintain professional expertise and recognition inside and outside of Chrysler Group LLC through patent filings, reviewing of journals, publishing, and/or speaking in relevant forums. Actively participate in external activities in relevant organizations (SAE, ASME, USCAR, .).Write high quality peer-reviewed articles for scientific journals such as SAE, ASME or other like technical papers (internal/external) in the relevant area of specialization. Work closely with and advise senior staff members on Powertrain Controls long-range planning to ensure Chrysler Group LLC's customer and corporate goals are met or exceeded.
Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science inone of the following disciplines: ME, EE, Controls, Systems Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or Applied Physics from an ABET accredited university
• Minimum 8 years' experience developing Powertrain Controls
• Minimum3 years' experience in one or more of the specialty areas: gas exchange processes (valve control, turbocharging, EGR, tumble flap, etc.), fuel systems (port and direct injection systems), combustion processes (spark and compression ignition), utilization of sensors in feedback and feedforward control strategies, integrated powertrain control (torque characterization, engine/transmission interactions, powertrain optimization strategies), auxiliary load management and optimization, thermal characterization and thermal management, fuel economy and performance optimization, controls systems & operating strategy driveline system control, diagnostics and vehicle electrical systems, on-board diagnostics (OBD)
• Demonstrated technical problem solving (lead or supported specific areas of vehicle modifications resulting in improvement in fuel economy, NVH, engine, electrical, etc.)
• Good overall knowledge of IC engines and engine control systems
• Experience in Controls Theory and tools, modeling/simulation/development/testing/validation
• Excellent communication skill, both verbal and written
• Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills
• Proven track record as a valuable consultant
