Senior Structures Design Engineers
Title: Senior Structures Design Engineers Location: ON-Toronto We are seeking individuals to join a dynamic Engineering team responsible for new, challenging product development within the Global Program. We have immediate openings within major airframe components (wing, centre fuselage and rear fuselage), aircraft level integration (structures & systems installations) and supplier work package integration (green aircraft, airframe component to component integration/interfaces, cockpit, forward fuselage, horizontal stabilizer and rudder). General duties include coordinating design activities of primary and secondary structural components, production of engineering drawings, manufacturing and flight test support pertaining to aircraft structures and system installations. These positions require good knowledge of aircraft structures configuration, detail preliminary sizing, technical requirements plus a detailed understanding of manufacturing processes, sheet metal detail design, produceability requirements, costs, corrosion prevention, materials, systems integration, damage tolerant structures, certification requirements, weight control, drafting procedures and standards. Responsibilities: * Lead the design and integration of structural components within the aircraft configuration * Be part of a team leading the Design Set - Knowledge First approach to product development. * Be responsible for producing/coordinating the following activities: * Prepare structural layouts, installation, assembly/detail and Interface control drawings. * Closely interface with technology, systems, and manufacturing * Define all structural elements * Generate procurement requirements * Generate change documentation * Supply input to man-hour estimates and schedules * Control work packages * Support directly other engineering and operations departments * Participate or/and lead design reviews and trade studies. * Coach assigned personnel as required
· This position requires an energetic person with good leadership and communication skills, who is willing to accept responsibilities in a team working environment. * Working knowledge of CATIA V4 is required. · Knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, CATIA V5 and MS Excel would be considered an asset. * Formal education to degree or technologist level in mechanical/aerospace engineering plus a minimum of 8 years relevant experience in aerospace or related industry.
