Meggitt Sensing Systems (MSS) is seeking a key Sr Project Engineer to join our Aircraft Time Domain Reflectometry (ADTR) Group, the most advanced technology certified for fuel level measurement in commercial aircraft. It is a system comprised of multiple sensors, signal conditioning electronics, signal processing algorithms, and associated control software, using time domain reflectometry to measure fuel level and other characteristics of aviation fuel. As Meggitt is creating a presence in Orange County, with 5 divisions in California alone, MSS will be combining our New Hampshire location with our site in San Juan Capistrano, (soon to be North Orange County), transitioning the manufacturing line over the next year.
Summary
In this high-profile role, the Sr Project Engineer will work with the New Hampshire ATDR team to relocate the product line to Orange County, CA, becoming the overall system expert on the ATDR system. They will lead a specific team of engineers in the further development of the system, including advancing the technical capabilities and creating custom configurations for each type of aircraft.
Objectives of the position include: * Participate in the creation of the California TDR team * Perform the engineering project management function for the ADTR product line * Ensure that the new systems are developed in accordance with the appropriate FAA regulations and procedures, such as FAA certification DO-160, DO-178 and DO-254. * Work with the marketing team to create competitive proposals for new customers. * Visit customers in pre and post sale situations * Provide leadership for the team to ensure the product's continued growth.
Requirements:
* Min of 5 years experience as a hands-on Sr Project Engineer, acting in the role as technical team lead developing electronic/software/mechanical components with multidisciplinary development teams within the avionics/aerospace industry.
* Recent work experience in the design of systems using radar, ultrasound or similar technology, digital image processing and/or DSP
* Ownership of the full hardware life-cycle of DO-254 process
* Experience resolving technical issues at customer sites
* Background in leading projects from requirements to release
* BSEE
* Ability to travel 50% / 2 weeks a month to New Hampshire for first 6 months and less thereafter until knowledge transfer complete
* Excellent communication skills, proficient in written and verbal English.
