Description
Support the ongoing short term and long term growth of the Tropicana business unit in the development of packaging innovation.- Work in partnership with the Tropicana business unit Marketing in developing well defined package innovation consumer needs. Support the ideation process with Package Development, vendors, and other outside resources to identify potential package solutions versus these consumer needs..- Lead the full design and development process from concept to commercialization against diverse business and technical challenges- Direct efforts related to package and packaging design to maximize shelf impact, control costs, operate efficiently through the supply chain from manufacture to customer shelf.- Work in partnership with key stakeholders to support new product execution and commercialization with excellence and superior quality.- Will drive cross-functional communication with project teams and facilitate alignment on direction and approach of packaging initiatives as they move from concept into development and through commercialization.- Develop implementation plans and communicate/align partners to risks and tradeoffs on moderate to high risk projects using sound technical methodology.- Utilize scientific and engineering understanding to resolve issues and/or implement new packaging solutions.- Ensure work processes are effectively and consistently applied to meet or exceed goals.- Bring in new technology views from broad and deep experience combining knowledge of packaging/equip. relationships.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Packaging, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. MBA highly desired but not required.- 6 plus years experience in the packaging development field within the consumer food products, beverages or pharm. industries.- Experience in broad program leadership, with a proven track record of developing, planning, managing and commercializing packaging innovation.- Strong communication, leadership, influencing, and consensus building skills- Experience in a matrix type organizational structure- Deep experience with a wide variety of package materials, forms, systems, and equipment; ideally both rigid and flexible beverage/food package forms.- Excellent project management skills. Knowledge of Gantt charts and other project management tools. Knowledge of MS Project.- Excellent presentation, written and oral English communication skills.- Broad technical understanding of food science, packaging, processing, quality systems, and manufacturing- Strong package testing and development skills with a proven ability to reconcile project timing, business risks, and resources, to define a working plan of action.- Strong technical problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.- This position will require flexibility in working hours to set-up and complete scale-ups, plant trials, or plant startups that may extend past typical working hours. Some field travel will be xible job location - Chicago or Barrington
