Parsons has the people and power to move the world. POSITION OVERVIEW :
Integrates the various engineering, scheduling, procurement, construction, and start-up aspects of the Overhead Catenary System of a Rail/Transit project. Responsible for the technical excellence of the engineering functions of the project including coordinating with clients, vendors, suppliers and other design disciplines as well as construction planning assistance.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Performs OCS design for commuter rail project.
- Prepares layouts, tech sheets, pole and foundation allocations, coordinates with client and design build contractor.
- Reviews contractor's submittals.
- Reviews installed equipment for QA purposes.
- Maintains project OCS documentation.
- Assists in field trouble shooting, testing, start-up and safety certification.
- Reviews and accepts contractor's as-built, training, maintenance documentation.
- Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and that quality is acceptable.
- Coordinates the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the project, as well as the assignment of personnel from other technical support groups within the company.
- Ensures client criteria and scope are met by all engineering disciplines. Expedites distribution of action items following discussions/meetings with the client and OCS Manager.
- Prepares technical reports, project manuals, and documentation of activity for the client and project management.
- Acts as OCS Manager's deputy for certain activities, such as attending meetings in his/her absence, etc.
- Reviews and approves change orders. Notifies project management and other affected personnel of all changes.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications: PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Structural Engineering and 12-15 years of related field engineering experience is required. A broad general engineering background and previous project engineering experience is required. Minimum 5 years progressive experience is required with OCS design and specification, including calculations of technical sheets, conductor particulars, structure and component loadings and detailed equipment specification and design. PE license in New York (or another state by examination) required. OCS construction experience is highly desirable.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :
Must be able to work with suppliers and installers, and coordinate well with other design disciplines in a team environment. Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/leadership role, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology.
