Job Description: Our client's company is in a state of rapid expansion and they are now looking to add aSenior Mechanical Designerto their engineering design group. Our client is an industry leader with a commitment to innovation and a reputation for standing behind their people. This is a new position reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities: * Designing machines, from concept to working prototype * Designing and developing custom equipment, components and systems * Performing design calculations in preparation for creation of detailed drawings * Working with fabricators, machinists and assemblers through the prototype development * Conducting field investigations and incorporating findings into designs * Monitoring and controlling project costs * Effectively schedule, prioritize and manage tasks * Develop work and cost estimates * Ensure direct outputs meet engineering standards * Provide technical support to estimating and field crews * Attend trade shows and conferences to gain new ideas on technology Qualifications: * A diploma or degree in mechanical engineering * 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design * A passion for research and development work * Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with a 3D software, such as Inventor, Nx or I-DEAS Our client offers acompetitive compensation package, benefits plan, and an RRSP matching program.
