Job Description Eaton Corporation located in Asheville, NC has an opening for a Lead Engineering Technician (Electro/Mechanical) for the Medium Voltage Drives product line. This position is responsible for:

Assembling, wiring, and testing MVD (Medium Voltage Drive) components, sub-assemblies, and final drive assemblies.

Interfacing with MVD technicians, designers, and engineers to document, detail, and create all types of engineering/manufacturing documentation, lab reports, and product instruction manuals, and bulletins.

Supporting product design and industrialization personnel on regulatory certification related matters.

The essential functions of this position are:

A. Using computer Aided Design (CAD), develop schematics, wiring diagrams, motions, clearances, and other involved features or customer equipment design.

B. Fabricate simple to complex prototypes; set up laboratory test and/or experiments requiring some ingenuity. Gather, review and interpret data for presentations to engineers or managers.

C. Consult with engineers or higher classified personnel on problems relating to a design or customer order project. Consult with other required departments as required obtaining or providing information.

D. Provide feedback to designers and engineers on prototypes to capture all required changes, design improvements, and specific engineering (mechanical or electrical) information.

E. Calculate fits, tolerances, strengths, weights, electrical circuit parameters and similar items. Anticipate manufacturing and/or customer requirement and problems and develop design solutions.

F. Support MVD cost reduction initiatives.

G. Check all work/documentation to assure Asheville Plants quality standards.

H. Capable of operating and using 3D solid models (CAD) in lab when building/wiring prototypes.

I. Takes a lead role in developing/supporting department ISO9001 procedures.

J. Takes a lead role in evaluating the root cause of test floor changes, engineering change request, engineering change notices. Implements corrective action as required.

K. Maintains project files/documents as required by department procedures.

L. Participates in weekly PROLaunch project team meetings.

Job Qualifications
/Educational Requirements Associate Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical technology, or Drafting and Design. Minimum of 5-7 years experience in the field of electro mechanical assembly, wiring, and testing. Must be able to demonstrate a solid proficiency in CAD, basic drafting, and mechanical, electrical, or electronic principles. Proven working knowledge of reading basic engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and basic product manuals. An understanding of math, physics, chemistry, machine design, and electrical theory is required. Working knowledge of mechanical hand/power tools, electrical instrumentation such as meters, scopes, and basic electrical hand/power tools require build/test electro-mechanical assemblies. A good understanding of control/power wiring harnesses and cables.
