AutoReqId 35207BR Function Engineering External Job Title Senior Engineer- Jackson,MI Job Description Test both prototype and production hardware to verify that it performs to the customer-required specifications. Review the test plans and/or specifications and direct the accurate and timely completion of testing. Determine what data is needed and then identify the actual test methods, materials, fixtures, and gages required. Schedule and perform tests; present data to the requester and communicate regularly on project status. Maintain responsibility for all engineering details associated with the testing performed at this facility and others as needed to fulfill customer obligations. Function as lead of third shift test facility operation; including supervision of second shift employees.
A. Lead third shift operations to ensure testing is completed timely and accurately. B. Supervise employees on third shift, including conducting performance reviews. C. In-house expert on test equipment, procedures, government and customer specifications. D. Design test equipment integral to the test quote. E. Perform, technical analysis for capital equipment requests. F. Design and coordinate build of fixtures and set-ups for vibration testing using CATIA. G. Design and coordinate build of special test apparatus. H. Witness qualification testing to ensure integrity of the testing and to expedite as needed. I. Recommend test procedures to the lab's customers. J. Approve test procedures and test reports. K. Communicate test status with customers as required. L. Facility contact on Environmental Health and Safety issues including the handling of hazardous materials. M. Maintain a safe working environment by providing adequate precautions to tests in process. Design safety into every test. N. QUALITY: Meet established customer commit dates and conduct testing correctly in accordance with requirements. O. Perform testing as required. P. Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications /Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree required, Mechanical Engineering preferred Good communication skills, both written and verbal Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to comprehend complex written instructions Working knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, machining, pressure vessel design and personal computers Five years of related experience The Senior Engineer, third shift lead will be responsible for supervising two Lead Technicians and one Technician, including establishing their work priorities and conducting performance reviews Region North America - US/Puerto Rico Country United States
