Working with cutting edge broadcast and media processing technologies, the successful candidate will be working predominantly on the architecture, design and implementation phases of advanced embedded software development.
* Design and Implementation of embedded software systems predominantly in C with some C++ and native code - development targets will include PPC/Linux/VxWorks.
* Unit test, system test, and general troubleshooting of embedded software systems.
* System debugging of microprocessor based hardware/ software systems.
* System integration of hardware and software components including troubleshooting.
* Activities relating to ongoing product support and sustaining engineering including product release management.
* Technical evaluation to assess alternative technologies and improved design solutions.
* Project management including , status reporting, risk mitigation, and contingency planning.
* Documentation relating to the entire development cycle including high-level design/requirement descriptions, detailed implementation specifications, and test plans.
* Mentoring of less experienced designers.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum 5 years experience programming in C, C++ in the embedded area targeting multiple CPU families (including PowerPC).
* Hard Real-time systems experience including troubleshooting.
* Strong Linux/VxWorks development skills.
* Familiarity with CPU hardware design and FPGA development.
* Exposure to a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
* Well developed communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Additional Skills:
* Broadcast industry knowledge.
* Experience with video or media processing including the development of DSP based media processing algorithms.
* Experience with large embedded systems.
