Senior Design Engineer--Medical Device
Growing & Extremely Stable Medical Device & Surgical Instrument Manufacturer in the Greater San Diego area seeks a senior level design engineer to joins its growing team. This is key technical role focused on the development of next generation medical device and instrument products. Ideal candidates will have at least 4 years of design experience within a medical device environment along with some experience leading product development projects. The company is a major market leader in orthopedic solutions and this particular division in San Diego serves as the engineering and corporate headquarters for a niche division of theirs that has consistently been one of the most profitable divisions of the entire global company. This is an exciting opportunity for an experience design engineer with a passion for new product development. Outstanding benefits and growth opportunity.
Participates in the development of new products and technologies from concept to production consistent with Design Controls and other medical device requirements.
Works with minimum supervision to analyze significant and complex issues to present effective and characterized solutions.
Utilize understanding of Design Control Procedures to support projects from concept to launch including laboratory activities for prototyping, testing, and scale-up
Develop, design and conduct experiments along with analyzing data to support research projects.
Support the creation of technical specifications for new products or product improvements
Develop relationships with potential users to understand key applications, identify unmet needs, and generate customer-driven product requirements
Participate in FDA inspections, ISO Certification and customer audits.
Provides technical R&D support to Operations, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, and Marketing.
Reviews Drawings of junior design engineers and support staff
Leads Product Development Projects using prior project management skills.
Requirements:
* BS Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Bioengineering
* 4 years of experience designing medical device products
* Working knowledge of 3D Cad Systems; Solidworks preferred
* Good understanding of GD & T
* 2 years experience leading product development projects within a medical device environment
