Senior Design Engineer

This position is responsible to provide design, engineering and technical support in the development and maintaining of Mikron products.

Requirements:

•Provide advanced level knowledge of commercial and residential fenestration products, including the design, manufacture, installation, and customer support information required for the development Mikron products. •Perform advanced level design activities for the development of commercial and residential fenestration products, utilizing the design parameters of a product development project and the current industry technology. •Perform advanced level research of commercial and residential fenestration products, which includes: structural, thermal, and sound transmittance performance, newly developed industry technology, and potential applications of new materials in Mikron products. •Provide advanced level troubleshooting and technical knowledge to Mikron and its customers regarding the design, function, performance and fabrication of Mikron products. •Travel to customers and other events representing the Mikron PD&E department, and provide technical knowledge on Mikron products and extrusions. •Coordinate with EPG Sales & Marketing and customers to define the design parameters of a product development project. •Provide advanced level project management for research and product development projects. Plan project milestones and manage the technical information internally at Mikron and with customers, EPG Sales & Marketing, equipment fabricators, hardware suppliers, and test laboratories. •Generate 3D models of Mikron products for proposals and create rapid prototypes. •Perform structural analysis using engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis techniques. •Define the fabrication processes for manufacturing a Mikron product. •Evaluate new hardware and software applications and implement into the Mikron PD&E department. •Participate as required in evaluating the patentability of parts. •Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture is preferred. •Five plus years fenestration industry experience preferred. •Experience in product design, development, and testing of commercial products in the window and door industry. •Knowledge of engineering principles in structural and thermal properties as applied to commercial window and door products. •Familiar with SAP software for enterprise resource planning (ERP) is preferred. •Strong communication skills and the ability to manage products. •Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing is preferred.
