Senior Design Engineer

North Denver area manufacturing company is searching for a Senior Design Engineer.  This position reports to the Engineering Manager.  The role requires a degreed engineer with qualifications listed below.  Company is a very fast-paced environment, requiring balancing of multiple projects under tight timelines.  3D modeling experience is required (Solidworks preferred).  Experience with pressure vessels and ASME code is desirable.

Requirements:

• Engineer performs creative, detailed, and fast-paced work in the development of new pressure vessels and process equipment
  
• Performs design verifications of pressure vessels and piping systems based on specific codes
  
• Participates in analysis, modifications and design for multiple projects
  
• Performs calculations for pressure vessel design
  
• Performs calculations and vessel analysis based on process flow characteristics
  
• Develops new product specifications and designs based on customer needs
  
• Guides other departments in product development
  
• Prepares specifications and drawings
  
• Field and manufacturing problem solving to maintain and improve products and services
  
• Conducts project tasks as assigned
  
• Familiarity with pressure vessel design software (Compress, APV, etc…)
  
• Experience and knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, and ANSI
  
• Deliver technical documents on project, fabrication drawings, P&ID, Bill of Materials, etc…
  
• Familiar with other related technologies including materials, welding and inspection techniques
  
• Work with other departments to improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency
  
• Must have technical skills in manufacturing processes and be familiar with fabrication and machining best practices
  
• Manufacturing experience and/or operational support of pressure vessels and piping systems is preferred

 

Qualifications:

 

• Must have an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  
• Must have 5-10 years experience in manufacturing environment.  Oil and gas related equipment manufacturing a plus
  
• Excellent 3D modeling software skills (Solidworks preferred)
  
• FEA experience
  
• Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and physics
  
• Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 BPV code (preferred)
  
• Excellent communications skills
