Satellite Communications TechnicianPerformssystem setup, diagnostic testing,fault isolation, and repair in bothshop & remote / austereenvironments of X, C & KU bandmobile, tactical satellitecommunications forms inspection of systemcomponents, preventive maintenance,testing and troubleshooting ofmodules and circuit cards to thecomponent level. Maintainsand repairs electronics andelectrical-mechanical equipment,sensors, optical devices, cableassemblies, power supplies, copyingequipment, amplifiers,communications, computer, and othersystems and didate must have a strongbackground in electronics, andcommunications to include computercontrolled equipment, networks andelectro-mechanical t be experienced in interpretingsystem drawings, electronicschematics, possesses highreliability soldering skills and isexperienced in the use of TestEquipment such as oscilloscopes,spectrum analyzers, multi-meters,power meters and DC powersupplies. Performs systemfunctional analysis and failuredata reporting, evaluates systemperformance, installs approvedsystem modifications, andrecommends system architecture andtechnical change t be capable of performinganalyses of system operations andperforming training. Musthave knowledge of and experience inthe operations of hardware systemsand components. Must haveexperience in fault detection,isolation, and correction ofhardware systems and individualcomponents. Must be capableof routine system maintenance andanalysis functions including:hardware configurations; adding,removing and replacing hardwarecomponents; use of hardware andsoftware diagnostic testing tools;installing computer OS, andrepairing printed circuitboards. Must have thecapability to distinguish betweenhardware and software problems inmulti-vendor systems. Canperform installation, diagnostictesting, troubleshooting, andrepair for communications equipmentand electronics ks with minimal supervision,documents maintenance tasks viaSAMS-1E or web-based reportingsystem, provides system functionalbriefings to customer andsupervisor.
