Research Specialist
Title: Research Specialist Location: United States-New Jersey-Iselin Other Locations: The successful candidate will be responsible for two areas: catalyst preparation and lab reactor operation. Primary responsibilities will be prototype catalyst preparation, including, but not limited to, raw material inventory and handling, proficiency in the use of balance, pH meter, particle-size analyzer, milling equipment, pressurized air and calcination ovens. Familiarity with TS-16949 and excellent quality control are required. Expected to maintain good records and possess good problem-solving skills. Must be able to handle heavy objects (up to 20 lbs). Ability to interact well with the Analytical Department; familiarity with the LIMS system. Accurate data analyzing/clear presentation of data is required. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for operation of automated laboratory reactors for catalyst performance measurement. Prepare and evaluate catalyst samples for complex assignments, using one or two sophisticated lab reactors. Assist in development of new test procedures, trouble-shoot systems, and maintain equipment in optimum condition. Ability to contribute to design and construction of a new reactor, program software for multi-step experiments and interpret results. Assist in the training and development of lab technicians. This position requires at least 3-5 years of experience as a senior technician exhibiting strong competence. Hands-on experience is necessary. Experience in Excel spreadsheets (including formula/calculations and macro-programming) is preferred. Some background in analytical and reactor operation is a plus. Self-starter; good communication skills; strong safety and quality awareness required. Related experience in chemistry, material science and instrumentation desired.
