We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a unique role as a Research Associate with a focus on software and IT systems support for Root & Bulb Breeding Programs. The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for supporting the initial transition, and subsequent support, of breeding program information to a proprietary web-based software platform. In addition to this responsibility, the Research Associate will lead the effort to transfer software tools and skills through interaction with the Technology Pipeline Solutions team and other R&D technology users. A secondary area of responsibility for the role is supporting activities of Root & Bulb breeders in other areas related to field and lab work. Responsibilities: * Provide primary support for information transfer from programs to web-based MVS breeding applications * Assist programs through the development of practical solutions for specific challenges identified by Root & Bulb programs * Facilitate technology transfer of tools and knowledge from TPS and other experienced users to Root & Bulb programs * Act as primary contact and advocate for Root & Bulb communication with TPS * Support activities of Root & Bulb breeders in general field and lab work with a focus on improving effective use of technology Monsanto is the largest developer, grower and marketer of fruit and vegetable seeds in the world. Required Skills/Experience: * BS in Agronomy, Plant breeding, Plant Pathology, or related field of study * Computer skills with spreadsheet and database programs * 2 years of appropriate work experience * Familiarity with breeding and research methodologies * Effective verbal and written communication skills, with an orientation toward acquisition of IT knowledge and transfer to users * Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multicultural research team Desired Skills/Experience: * MS in Agronomy, Plant breeding, Plant Pathology, or related field of study * Work experience in a related IT field * Work experience in agricultural technology or agricultural engineering - Job: Research & Development
