Desired Start Date: June, 2010
Duties:
* Daily interface with shop operations associates, quality point leaders, suppliers, quality auditors, manufacturing engineers, industrial engineers, and product engineers
* Develop and maintain the Quality Plan and supporting documentation. Provide training as needed to support the production of a good quality product.
* Implement corrective actions related to production issues and/or audit failures
* Interface with suppliers and plant SQI resources to resolve supplier quality issues and generally improve incoming quality
* Lead and/or support problem solving and improvement activity in the manufacturing process and supporting systems work to make the manufacturing as robust as possible
* Lead Control plan generation and updates
* Lead the implementation of improvement activities such as Right First Time and other Cummins Operating Systems Measures using tools such as Six Sigma and Seven Step problem solving
* Manufacturing Quality Verification planning
* Provide quality information to teams and leadership
* Quality Audit and Assembly Management System data analysis (Statistical Process Control, capability analysis, classification of characteristics / compatibility, etc.).
* Support and implement the Quality Plan for the machining, assembly, upfit and tag business: Process Audits, Inspection Plans, Capability Studies, Gage R&R Studies, TQS/ISO Audits
* Support the Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) processes
* Support the Material Change Request and corrective action processes.
* Support Value Package Introduction (new product development) activities.
* Technical quality resource for a variety of teams including product engineering, assembly, test and service.
* Track area quality measures and be the quality leader in correcting quality measures as needed
Requirements:
* Communicate effectively to all levels of the organization (one to one, large groups, oral and written). This includes the ability to write clear, concise procedures
* Data collection and analysis skills
* Experience in Just In Time (JIT), Total Quality Management (TQM), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Manufacturing Quality Verification (MQV)
* Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing equipment and process fundamentals (gaging, machine fail-safe, and test)
* Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
* Knowledge of metrology, inspection and testing methods, in-process verification
* Knowledge of quality systems and standards as well as quality planning
* Problem solving and process improvement skills
* Proficient in software applications such as Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Word, Project. Able to effectively use database tools for data mining.
* Proficient in statistics and applied statistics
* Must be self motivated, with the ability to work in a high pressure environment

* Six Sigma processes especially DMAIC
* Work in Team Based Work System environment by modeling teamwork, working with people at all levels of the organization and promoting sharing of information, ideas and resources
